I had two sons on IEP's. Use it to your benefit. The school gets additional funding for an assistant for your child. Use this extra help. The assistant will be there for your child directly. With ovr crowding your child will benefit. The assistant came to their class. I never allowed them to seperate my children from mainstream. When my children became of an age where they didnot want their aide it was changed where in lieu of studyhall they went to the IEP aide and reviewed their daily assignments, getting assistance if needed with homework. After highschool because they had an IEP in college they recieved extra kudo's (books free, tutors free, employment assistance etc. Once they pushed the IEP onto us I used it to help my children (at the high school level they tried to remove my children, but I refused to sign them out even though I knew they were at potential so instead I upped the bar. I had done the reserch and knew it would benefit the children in the long run. Take the opportunity and run with it, but hold strong to putting the child anywhere but main stream. My children graduated in 2001 and 2006
